i'm in no way case, i did not think that such a moment would come - for three reasons. I never thought i'd be a writer when i made the daily, i definitely didn't think i'd be writing a goodbye column, and after i sort of caved in on the initial two, i promised myself that my goodbye column wouldn't happen. Seem as sentimental as jacob jaffe. Like a lot of times in high school, i'll win 0 out of 3. it's been over 2 years since since i wrote my original article different. At the time i was a computer science sophomore whose least favorite activity in the world was writing data, and anyone reading this column will admit that i had an emotional part, but nothing more. i sometimes laugh when i think of that version of sam fisher. It's hard to imagine that he really was me. He was not interested in the daily and books in general. In fact, if it wasn't for my friendship with then-editor-in-chief billy gallagher from our first year at twain, i had little chance of writing another story. It's good that billy is as persistent as they are. I found the daily in a time of personal uncertainty. I lost much of my personal love for computer science in the middle of my first 2 years at stanford and i didn't really know what the basic rule to do was with my valuable time left on the farm. To sum it up, i was looking for new intellectual power and found it in the daily. My 16 months in the daily was a whirlwind. Know-how couldn't start better - my first newspaper came out as soon as stanford football upset no. 2 usc; i'm still proud of that headline "a complete resource and can't imagine a better group of people from which students are able to complete. This particular group is out of the ordinary, unremarkable, confined to an office or a broadcast booth - although i have to say how pretty amazing they are. The bulk of the phenomenon that made this trip so exciting is the transport that you all read the daily, and a good half of the visitors listen to my broadcasts on kzsu. It is often difficult to find the motivation to continue well to work in the early hours of the morning, all this in addition before we start our real homework. It is noticeably easier to settle for less than for the best, due to the fact that we, overworked and overworked students, are often forced to do this at stanford. But, thanks to all of you, we find a method of cooperation - stay up until 4 am for days or weeks in a row and spend countless weekends on the tablet. You make us the best. I fell in love with sports coverage at stanford because somehow, no matter how good every team is right now, the community is so small. In true stanford spirit there is something deliciously quirky in every little aspect of stanford athletics and i will miss the niche of cardinal superfans i found thanks to the daily. No matter if you react if you follow us on twitter, post resource requests or send emails from anywhere you've called home since you left the farm, you matter. @Blockintheback, @msingaspoke, @jilldubs, @lsju97 and others who have reached out to me over and over again, i've been honored to be a source of analysis for these passionate fans. so in this final editorial act in the daily, let me ask you one favor: keep reading the daily and keep listening to kzsu. There is a reason this column is coming to an end. Customers at the end of january, not at the dawn of june: the level of talent in the daily and kzsu is so strong that i am not needed in the last 3-5 kg of months. I will be focusing on behind-the-scenes tasks helping the daily stay relevant for a long time because people like park do hyun, ashley westham, winston shea, michael peterson and david cohn are more than willing to take my place. Let them take my place in your life. Return to them. Tell them how the customer enters into their work. Most of all, make sure they give you the right one, because only you have that kind of power. I've seen it first hand, so thank you for making me go the extra mile. It's time to end this journey and start a new one at the same time. Don't be a stranger - i know it's not your style. The mentorship and guidance that sam fisher provided to all of us sportswriters is incomparable and will stay with us forever. We will do our best to make you proud.
